Stewart, a native of Kansas City, Missouri assigned to Naval Health Clinic Corpus, with his wife after donning his combination cover for the first time during a chief petty officer (CPO) pinning ceremony Sept. 16, at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi Wings Auditorium. The rate of CPO is that of a senior non-commissioned officer, and was established on April 1, 1893, for the United States Navy. CPOs serve a dual role as both technical experts and as leaders.
