An adult female Mediterranean Tick (Hyalomma marginatum). In nature, ticks
range in size from adults that are 2-5 mm in length to immature stages which
are no bigger than the period at the end of this sentence. Hyalomma ticks
inhabit dry, semi-desert regions of Europe, Asia and Africa and may also carry the Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) virus. For more information on CCHF, visit the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention website at: https://www.cdc.gov/vhf/crimean-congo/. (U.S. Navy Photo by Lt. Cmdr.
