Rear Adm. Jeffrey A. Harley, president, U.S. Naval War College (NWC) in Newport, Rhode Island, Ray DeConto, brother of fallen Capt. Gerald F. DeConto, and chief selectees, assigned to Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island, NWC, Naval Undersea Warfare Center Newport Division, and the Pre-Commissioning Unit Zumwalt (DDG 1000), participate in a ceremony at NWC’s Patriots Memorial to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Capt. DeConto was a 1998 graduate of NWC and was serving at the Pentagon’s Navy Command Center during the attacks. The ceremony served as an opportunity to pay tribute to those who lost their lives and honor the fallen NWC students and alumni killed in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
