Army Spc. Ruben A. Flores, an Atlanta, Georgia, native serving as a preventative medicine specialist for Public Health Command-Pacific, hands a box of Meals Ready to Eat packages to a student from Osuka Junior High School in Kakegawa, Japan, Sep. 4, 2016. Flores and 11 other U.S. Army Soldiers participated in Shizuoka Prefecture’s annual Comprehensive Disaster Drill. The drill demonstrated how a diverse collection of local, regional, national and international organizations can pool their respective resources to effectively respond to a major disaster. In addition to distributing supplies, the contingent of U.S. Army troops collaborated with their JGSDF counterparts to coordinate convoy routes, establish mobile communication sites and provide casualty care.
