ARABIAN GULF (Sep. 1, 2016) Capt. Paul “Speedy” Spedero Jr., commanding officer of the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) (Ike), and Lt. William Fletcher, pilot an F/A-18F Super Hornet assigned to the Fighting Swordsmen of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 32 as it makes an arrested landing on the flight deck. Ike and its Carrier Strike Group are deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
