The reception is held to increase access to diverse community leaders, support Recruiting Station Nashville's recruiting mission and generate excitement for Marine Week, preceding the start of the event Sept. 7, 2016. Marine Week, an annual event held in a different city each year, is a celebration of Community, Country and Corps that allows the public to learn about the Corps through hands-on static displays, live demonstrations, time-honored Marine Corps traditions, musical performances and more. Barry is the 7th mayor of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County. Bailey is the Deputy Commandant for Plans, Policies and Operations.
