160905-N-AL248-044 SAN PEDRO, California (Sept. 5, 2016) Chief petty officers and chief selects attached to USS America (LHA 6) run across the finish line of the Conquer the Bridge Run, during Los Angeles Fleet Week. The 5.3 mile race held on Labor Day begins at Harbor Boulevard and takes participants over the Vincent Thomas Bridge and back. The inaugural Los Angeles Fleet Week offers the public an opportunity to tour ships, meet Sailors, Marines and members of the Coast Guard and gain better understanding of how the sea services support the national defense of the United States and freedom of the seas.
