ABOARD USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD-6), At Sea (Sept. 4, 2016)—A Marine with mock injuries waits to be treated by hospital corpsman during a casualty evacuation drill during casualty evacuation training aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6) at sea, Sept. 4, 2016. Marines and Sailors with the 31st MEU conducted the drill as part of a pre-deployment certification exercise in conjunction with the crew of the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6) to refine their noncombatant evacuation response capabilities. The 31st MEU is the Marine Corps only continuously forward deployed Marine Air-Ground Task Force, and combines air-ground logistics into a single team capable of addressing a range of military operations in the Asia-Pacific region – from force protection and maritime security to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in cooperation with host countries and partner militaries.
