Pictured is Evan Merrell's kayak abroad a 47-foot Motor Life Boat from Coast Guard Station Coos Bay, Ore., while boat crew members were transporting him to waiting emergency medical service personnel at Charleston Marina Sept 3, 2016.
After boat crew members pulled Merrell abroad, Petty Officer 3rd Class Matt Yee, the rescue swimmer from an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew that also responded, treated him for hypothermia in the onboard survivor's compartment.
