160902-N-LD343-009 LONG BEACH, California (Sept. 2, 2016) – Sailors and Marines assigned to amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), mine countermeasure ship USS Champion (MCM 4) and Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 369 play flag football with staff members and residents at U.S. Veterans Initiative community Villages at Cabrillo during the inaugural Los Angeles Fleet Week. Fleet week offers the public an opportunity to tour ships, meet Sailors, Marines, and members of the Coast Guard and gain a better understanding of how the sea service support the national defense of the United States and freedom of the seas.
