U.S., Iranian, and other currencies displayed at a money exchange booth at an open market in Basra, Iraq. Business owners in this city close to the Iranian and Kuwaiti borders fall prey to counterfeit bills due to lack of expertise in spotting fakes. In March, 134,000 counterfeit U.S. Dollars were turned into authorities by a bank in Umm Qasr, a key Iraqi port, on the western side of the al-Faw peninsula on the shores of the Arvand Rud waterway.
