Staff Sgt. Blake Repine examines an Iranian rial at a money exchange booth at an open market in Basra, Iraq, March 15. It is common for local populace to use rial in the Basra province because it borders Iran along the Shatt al-Arab waterway, so trading and international business is conducted regularly. Repine and other personnel from governmental agencies talk to local business owners and persuade them not to use the counterfeit money. The business owners know they will not be reimbursed for the counterfeit money turned in to authorities.
