160831-N-VQ947-057 YOKOSUKA, Japan (Aug. 31, 2016) Sailors from Deck Department pull a mooring line over a capstan in the forecastle of the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), following the ship’s return to port. The capstan winds on a vertical axis to help pull taut the line attached to the pier. Ronald Reagan provides a combat-ready force, which protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
