Pfc. Erik Bailey, a native of Dearborn, Mich., and soldier assigned to 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, Fort Lewis, Wash., now serves as a wildland forest firefighter in the Tripod Complex fire region of North Central Washington.
