Command Sgt. Maj. John W. Troxell prepares to give his challenge coins to Marines Aug. 29 at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Japan. Troxell visited Okinawa to engage with service members and tour U.S. military facilities to ensure readiness of the forces and quality of life, he said. Troxell acknowledged Marines’ hard work by rewarding them with challenge coins, a small coin bearing an organization’s insignia exchanged as a military tradition. Troxell is senior enlisted advisor to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the most senior noncommissioned officer of the U.S. Armed Forces. (U.S. Marine Corps Photo by Cpl. Brittany A.
