Sgt. Luis Contreras, a native of El Paso, Texas, and soldier assigned to Battery C, 5th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, Fort Lewis, Wash., now serves as a wildland forest firefighter in the Tripod Complex fire region of North Central Washington.
