MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (August 21,2016) - U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Ross Myers, Carrier Strike Group 15 Commander, pulls the lanyard and fires a lightweight M777A2 howitzer during the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Composite Training Unit Exercise aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., August 21, 2016. The Marines, with Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, 11th MEU, showcased the capabilities of a howitzer when engaging targets in a defensive position and gave Myers the opportunity to fire the howitzer in a direct fire position.
