Corporal Rowdy Z. Burney sits proudly on top of a humvee similar to the one he was ejected from when the vehicle struck an improvised explosive device while traveling in the city of Fallujah in May 2006. The combat engineer with Charlie Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 5, 1st Marine Logistics Group, received shrapnel to his face, eyes and hands and has limited mobility of his right thumb. "I'm sent to do my job and that's what I'm going to do," said the 21-year-old Cullman, Ala., native, who continues to participate in combat operations with his unit.
