U.S. Marine Lt. Col. Eric Beckmann speaks to Lt. Gen. Lewis A. Craparott during the I Marine Expeditionary Force Large Scale Exercise 16 at Camp Pendleton, Calif., Aug. 19, 2016. Craparotta is the I MEF commanding general and Beckmann is the 1st Marine Logistics Group G-3 assistant chief of staff. LSE 16 tests I MEF’s ability to plan, deploy, and command and control a force of more than 50,000 Marines and Sailors against a near-peer enemy force. The exercise tests 1st MLG’s ability to provide sufficient, agile, flexible and responsive tactical level logistics to I MEF forces in support of operations.
