AT SEA (August 15, 2016) - Intelligence Specialist 1st Class Chanel Newsome sights in through a scout sniper’s observation telescope while Lance Cpl. Jacob Gunyon relays situational updates over radio during a straits transit exercise as part of 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit's Composite Training Unit Exercise aboard the USS Makin Island (LHD-8). COMPUTEX is the second at-sea training evolution, bringing the 11th MEU and Amphibious Squadron (PHIBRON) 5 together again to further refine how they will execute operations together while deployed in the 5th and 7th Fleet’s areas of responsibility later this year.
