160819-N-WA993-073 YOKOSUKA, Japan (Aug. 19, 2016) Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) 3rd Class (AW) Nathan Vanderlugt, from Alma, Michigan, operates an engine powered boom lift, an aerial work platform, during an all-hands call on the flight deck of the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). Vanderlugt was operating the boom lift to support the event’s photographer. Ronald Reagan provides a combat-ready force, which protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
