Lt. Col. Wade Workman presents the flag of Maj. R. Sterling Norton, a fallen pilot with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 232, to his wife during his funeral ceremony at the Miramar National Cemetery, San Diego, Aug. 12. Norton, a Santa Cruz, Calif., native, commissioned in the Marine Corps in 2005, graduated from the Navy Strike-Fighter Weapons School “Top Gun” in 2013, and served as a weapons and tactics instructor and a strike-fighter tactics instructor during his career. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star.
