Master Toru Kiyan teaches Marines how to preform Jodan Uke, a rising block, to Marines Aug. 10 at Gunner’s Fitness Center aboard Camp Foster. Kiyan taught Marines in a Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor Course basic Okinawa Kenpo Karate moves such as blocks, finger thrust, and different kicks. The class was integrated with an intensive three-week long program which Marines must undergo to teach the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program to other Marines.
