Col. Phillip Murdock, 332nd Expeditionary Operations Group deputy commander, taxies down the runway at Joint Base Balad, Iraq, April 30, after completing his 3,000th sortie hour in an F-16 Fighting Falcon This accomplishment also coincides with Colonel Murdock's "fini-flight" at JBB. The "fini-flight" is a long standing practice of both the United States and Royal Australian Air Forces. This time-honored tradition warrants a gala event where fire trucks join the crowd in welcoming the pilot back from his final flight and hosing him down with the vehicle's water hose. Murdock is deployed out of Vermont Air National Guard, Burlington International Airport, South Burlington, Vt., and is a native of Essex Junction, Vt.
