SAN CLEMENTE ISLAND, California – U.S. Marine LCpl. Zachary Martin with India Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, plays a downed pilot role and is recovered by Mexican marines during a Tactical Recovery of Aircraft and Personnel exercise at San Clemente Island, California, July 28, 2016 as part of the Southern California portion of Rim of the Pacific 2016. The TRAP scenario-based training provides partner nations the opportunity to practice and prepare for a possible situation involving the recovery of aircraft and personnel during future operations. Twenty-six nations, comprising over 40 ships and submarines and over 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 30 to Aug. 4 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity that helps participants foster and sustain the cooperative relationships that are critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans. RIMPAC 2016 is the 25th iteration in the series that began in 1971 and is the world's largest international maritime exercise. (U.S. Marine Corps Photos by Cpl Rachael E. Zilliox/Released)
