1st Sgt. Andrew Bonney, senior enlisted leader of Headquarters Support Company, Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, U.S. Army Africa, takes possession the unit’s guidon from Pfc. Shaneice Jackson, a unit supply clerk, July 29, 2016, during a change of command ceremony, at Caserma Del Din, Vicenza, Italy. In a traditional display of command exchange called “The passing of the colors”, the unit’s guidon then passes from the outgoing commander to the next higher-level unit commander, who passes it to the incoming commander. The incoming commander returns the guidon to the first sergeant, ending the display of command exchange. Ceremony attendees hale farewell to Capt. Nicolas Barber as he relinquishes command of the unit to Capt. Jeremy Galvez.
