MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, California (July 29, 2016) – U.S. Navy corpsmen from 1st Medical Battalion prepare for a flight to Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, California, to retrieve casualties of simulated combat-related trauma to receive further treatment at Camp Pendleton, July 29, 2016. Navy surgeons, doctors and nurses participated in the exercise during the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab Marine Air-Ground Task Force Integrated Experiment that will test the capabilities of new deployable medical equipment and the efficiency of using the least amount of supplies and personnel to achieve the most mobile and optimal care for damage control and resuscitative surgery in patients. The lab is conducting the experiment to explore new gear and asses its capabilities for potential future use. The Warfighting Lab identifies possible challenges of the future, develops new warfighting concepts, and tests new ideas to help develop equipment that meets the challenges of the future operating environment.
