U.S. Army 1st Lt. Michael J. Luth, from Yorktown, Va., with Company A, 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, Task Force Lethal Warrior, receives a Bronze Star Medal with Valor for his exceptionally valorous conduct while conducting route clearance in support of the Afghan National Elections as a platoon leader, Aug. 20. Luth's route covered 17 kilometers, 14 of which were of dirt road, the most improvised explosive device laden stretch of road in Kunar province over the last six months with more than 25 IED events. Luth and his Soldiers encountered multiple ambushes and behaved in a professional and dutiful manner. Gen. George W.
