160722-N-QW941-053 DA NANG, Vietnam (July 22, 2016) Lt. Steven Whelpley (center), an emergency physician assigned to hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) and native of Fredericksburg, Virginia addresses local physicians and authorities at Da Nang 115 Emergency Center during a humanitarian and disaster response subject matter expert exchange. During the exchange, Pacific Partnership 2016 participants discussed multi service approaches to mass casualties and injury management sustained at sea. Mercy is joined in Da Nang by JS Shimokita (LST-4002) and Vietnam People's Navy ship Khánh Hóa for Pacific Partnership. Partner nations will work side-by-side with local organizations to conduct cooperative health engagements, community relation events and subject matter expert exchanges to better prepare for natural disaster or crisis.
