Clendenin Dairy Queen owner Hoyt Newman served in Korea, pictured with his dog. As a life long member of Veterans of Foreign War and American Legion, Newman has had many gatherings at his restaurant, which was destroyed in the June flooding.
Newman's mother, Geraldine, opened the drive-in Dairy Queen in 1956. Her chili recipe was still being used the day before the June flooding destroyed the building.
