Clendenin Dairy Queen owner Hoyt Newman, a Korean War veteran, reminisces about his time in the Veterans of Foreign War and American Legion. As a life long member of both organizations, Newman has had many gatherings at his restaurant.
Newman's mother, Geraldine, opened the drive-in Dairy Queen in 1956. Her chili recipe was still being used the day before the June flooding destroyed the building.
