Navy Capt. James Schneider, officer in charge of Field Resuscitative Surgical System 3 at Camp Fallujah, Iraq, listens to an interpreter read a letter from Mike Bullian before presenting H. Iad Abed with more than $500 and several law enforcement agencies' patches Aug. 2 at Camp Fallujah's surgical facility. Abed, a 25-year-old police officer from Fallujah, was wounded in the line of duty June 15. The letter, money and patches were sent by Bullian, a recently retired special agent supervisor for the California Department of Justice, who collected the donations after learning of Abed's situation.
