Lance Cpl. Josiah A. Rutkowski uses a machete to shape bamboo for a raft, July 12, 2016, at Ovalau, Fiji, as part of jungle survival training during a multi-national, bilateral exercise with the Republic of Fiji Military Forces. During the exercise the Marines and Soldiers have conducted patrol base operation training, live fire ranges and jungle survival training to increase interoperability and relations as part of Task Force Koa Moana’s deployment in the Asia-Pacific region. Rutkowski, from Royersford, Pennsylvania, is an infantryman with Task Force Koa Moana, and is originally assigned to Company B, 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force.
