Fijian Soldiers and U.S. Marines conduct jungle survival training, July 12, 2016, at Ovalau, Fiji, as part of a multi-national, bilateral exercise. During the training the Fijians showed the Marines how to collect water, prepare food and how to use their surroundings to create shelter or a bamboo raft. During the exercise the service members have conducted patrol base operation training, live fire ranges and jungle survival training to increase interoperability and relations. The Marines are with Task Force Koa Moana, and are originally assigned to 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force. The Fijian Soldiers are with 3rd Battalion, 3rd Fiji Infantry Regiment, Republic of Fiji Military Force.
