160712-N-KV911-016 JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM (July 12, 2016) - Fire Control Technician 2nd Class Christopher Ulibarri, a native of Austin, Texas, is assigned to the Los Angeles-class submarine USS Bremerton (SSN 698) in Pearl Harbor.
"This is the fourth RIMPAC I've been here for," said Ulibarri. "It's a great opportunity to build relationships with other countries through friendly competition."
Ulibarri said because all the participants are trying to acchomplish the same goal it makeS for a special experience for all. "This place gets a little congested but everyone gets along pretty well and it's usually a really good experience."
Twenty-six nations, 49 ships, six submarines, about 200 aircraft, and 25,00 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 29 to Aug. 4 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships between participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans.
