Petty Officer 1st Class Jason Ashmeade, hospital corpsman (center), from Long Island, N.Y., demonstrates to service members from the Senegal, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Gambia and Equatorial Guinea armed forces the proper procedures for applying a tourniquet in a combat environment. Ashmeade, an instructor for Africa Partnership Station West, is embarked aboard the Whidbey Island-class amphibious dock landing ship USS Gunston Hall. Gunston Hall is on a scheduled deployment supporting Africa Partnership Station, an international initiative developed by U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa to improve maritime safety and security on the African continent.
