U.S. Soldiers with 1st Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), fire an M777 howitzer at Kara Soar Base, Iraq, May 23, 2016. The Soldiers conducted fire missions to calibrate their weapons systems. The fire missions at the Kara Soar Base serve two roles: to provide force protection for Coalition and Iraqi security forces and to support the Iraqi Security forces ground maneuver by providing indirect fire support, enabling them to defeat Da’esh.
