160707-N-N0824-045 IWO TO, Japan (July 7, 2016) Marines from Yokosuka Naval Base were the first group to climb up Mount Suribachi during a professional,
military and education tour to Iwo To or popularly known in English as Iwo
Jima, organized by Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet. 63 U.S. Sailors and Marines
forward deployed in Yokosuka, Japan visited Iwo To, to view for themselves
one of the most costly battles during World War II. After 71 years, military
visitors still follow in the footsteps of the Marines and Sailor who hoisted
the American flag atop Mount Suribachi on February 23, 1945. (U.S. Navy
