    GETTYSBURG, PA - A team of United States military veterans mans and fires a Civil War-era cannon at dusk during the 153rd anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg on July 3rd, 2016. The team, members 6th New York Light Artillery, included veterans from the Marines, Army, Navy, and Army National Guard.

    The Battle of Gettysburg took place over three days, from July 1–3, 1863, in and around the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The battle was described as the turning point of the Civil Warm and involved the largest number of casualties of the conflict, ending with over 23,000 casualties on the Union side, and an estimated similar number from Confederate forces.
