GETTYSBURG, PA - Steve Brown, an Air Force and Army combat veteran, loads and fires his rifle during the 153rd anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. Brown served as a Technical Sergeant in the Air Force Security Forces before joining the Army and earning a commission. During that time, Brown was wounded twice in combat, ultimately losing all feeling in one leg.

The Battle of Gettysburg took place over three days, from July 1–3, 1863, in and around the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The battle was described as the turning point of the Civil Warm and involved the largest number of casualties of the conflict, ending with over 23,000 casualties on the Union side, and an estimated similar number from Confederate forces.
