GETTYSBURG, PA - Private First Class Marina Eberhart, a Combat Medic with the 865th Army Combat Support Hospital, Ashley Detatchment, pulls the handle on a Civil War-era mortar during a demonstration at the 153rd anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg on July 3rd, 2016.
The Battle of Gettysburg took place over three days, from July 1–3, 1863, in and around the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The battle was described as the turning point of the Civil Warm and involved the largest number of casualties of the conflict, ending with over 23,000 casualties on the Union side, and an estimated similar number from Confederate forces.
The 865th CSH provided medical support during the event.
