Jerome Smith participates in the frozen rope competition during the Firecracker Softball Tournament skills competition June 29 aboard Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan. During the frozen rope competition, individual players were given 60 seconds to throw five softballs from the outfield into nets with specified point values. The event kicked off the Pacific-wide tournament, which is held annually to celebrate Independence Day and bring SOFA members together. During the event, team members faced off in base run, frozen rope and home run competitions. Smith is a New Orleans, Louisiana, native.
