A Talon man-transportable robotic system, operated remotely by Marine explosive ordnance disposal technicians, uses it’s camera to scan the ground for visible signs of a simulated improvised explosive device during the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Combined Arms Exercise 2016 at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif., June 9. MEUCAX is the largest ground-based training evolution for Combat Logistics Battalion 11. The exercise will further refine their ability to support the ground combat element of the 11th MEU prior to its Western Pacific 16-2 deployment later this year. The Talon MTRS is used to safely inspect ordnance and situations unsafe for EOD technicians at the site of an IED detonation. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. April L. Price/Released)
