160622-N-QP351-027 Gunners Mate 2nd Class Garrett Brown is originally from Covina Calif. and graduated from Bloomington High School in June 2007. After taking the summer off, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard later that winter and has served eight and a half years since. After attending Gunners Mate A school in Yorktown, Va. for 10 weeks, and then C-School for one week, he reported to Coast Guard Cutter Alex Haley (WMEC 39) in Kodiak Alaska from 2008-2010. He later transferred to Air Station San Francisco until 2014 where he received orders to the Coast Guard Cutter Isaac Mayo (WPC 1112). He’s a proactive weapons technician, a firearms instructor and conducts ammo accountability. In his off duty time he enjoys shooting sports and micro brewing.
