SAN ANTONIO – (June 23, 2016) Navy recruiters, Machinist’s Mate 2nd Class Deron Davis of Navy Recruiting Station (NRS) Hollywood Park and Aviation Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Benjamin Brown of NRS De Zavala observe middle school girls assemble an underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV) during a SeaPerch Competition held at the Ann Barshop Natatorium on the campus of the University of the Incarnate Word as a part of the miniGEMS (Girls in Engineering, Math and Sciences) program. SeaPerch is an innovative underwater robotics program that equips teachers and students with the resources they need to build an underwater ROV in an in-school or out-of-school setting. Davis, a native of Nacogdoches, Texas, is a graduate of Chireno High School in Chireno, Texas, and Brown, a native of Albany, Ga., graduated from Westover High School.
