Maj. Gen. Richard Clarke, commander of the 82nd Airborne Division, claps for the receipients of the Soldier's Medal during the ceremony, Fort Bragg, N.C. June 24. Master Sgt. Joseph Gassaway, 16th Military Police Brigade, and Spc. Benjamin Rogers, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, were awarded the medal for heroism in October 2014 The two arrived at a car accident where the car was pinned against a tree and on fire. The two Soldiers rendered aid to the victim while the engine was engulfed in flames. Due to their heroism, the victim was able to sustain life as long as possible. (U.S. Army photo by Staff Sgt.
