Koa Moana is a multi-national, bilateral exercise designed to increase interoperability and relations by sharing infantry, engineering, medical and law enforcement skills. Chavez, from Miami, Florida, is an infantryman with Task Force Koa Moana, originally assigned to Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force.
