Benjamin Duarte introduces himself as part of a welcome address at the Holiday Inn Express in Dumfries, Va., for the 2016 Key Leaders and Educators Workshop, June 20. Approximately 40 educators from states west of the Mississippi River were welcomed. Until the workshop ends June 24, it includes events such as infantry patrolling, flight simulations and many others in order to provide educators a robust understanding of what goes into making Marine officers. The workshop creates a mutually beneficial relationship between educators and the Marine Corps where key leaders and educators can share knowledge about the Corps to students based on firsthand experience. Duarte is an engineering program director for Chico State University in Chico, Calif.
