MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. -- Corporal Cesar Flores, right, a radio operator with 5th Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, checks a mock casualty for simulated chest wounds during a Combat Lifesaver course on Camp Pendleton June 14, 2016. The Marines were taught combat lifesaving skills in preparation for Koa Moana 16-4. The course teaches Marines basic medical techniques to provide care for injuries in a field or combat environment, which increases the probability of surviving. The Koa Moana exercise series seeks to enhance senior military leader engagements between allied and partner nations with a collective interest in military-to-military relations and to discuss key aspects of military operations, capability development, and interoperability.
