Cpl. Daniel Mallory, squad leader with 1st platoon, Alpha Company, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, secures the rear of an amphibious assault vehicle as Lance Cpl. AAVs from Amphibious Assault Vehicle platoon transported and supported infantry Marines throughout mountainous environment. 24th MEU Marines performed a series of sustainment and joint exercises alongside the French military service members while in Djibouti. The 24th MEU is currently serves as the theatre reserve force for Central Command during its seven month deployment aboard Nassau Amphibious Ready Group vessels.
